Visakhapatnam: Pink Sands, a Newcastlemax bulk carrier, arrived at Visakhapatnam Port and berthed at the Vizag General Cargo Berth on Monday.
The vessel is carrying a record-breaking 204,500 MT of manganese ore in bulk, marking the largest dry bulk parcel ever received at an Indian port. The Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) ensured the vessel's smooth berthing upon arrival, and cargo operations commenced immediately. Of the total cargo, 54,100 MT of manganese ore will be transshipped to smaller vessels for delivery to Haldia. ERAMET, France, is the supplier, continuing their shipment plans to Vizag using Newcastlemax vessels after a successful trial operation with the MV Huahine, which carried 1,99,900 MT of manganese ore in July last year. ERAMET's shipments to Vizag are now being handled by Bothra Shipping Services Pvt Ltd, which provides total logistics support.
